Why Vitality
Vitality itself is built on the Magentus Experience Principles – with every decision being made to uphold these principles and provide the best customer experience across all digital products. Leveraging off-the-shelf design systems is more likely going to result in an off-the-shelf experience, and most of the time all you get is technical componentry. Whenever you need to make customizations or evolve the customer experience beyond what’s possible in the off-the-shelf solution, you are forced to work against the system, rather than have the system work for you.
Designed specific to a
healthcare context
We are considerate of this context and explore edge cases to reduce the risk of breaches in clinical safety. Unlike other (more generic) design systems, all components, tools and experiences are created with a healthcare-specific context in mind.
Experience is embedded
Because we own the tooling, we own the experience. By embedding our opinion in all elements of Vitality, users will create familiar experiences - all throughout the Magentus health ecosystem. We identify useful and sensible ways to leverage visual design, interaction design and tone of voice guidelines which all uphold the same principles of experience in a healthcare context.
It connects Design & Development teams
We encourage cross-functional collaboration between design and development to close the gap between the two disciplines. Vitality offers useful tools for both Design and Development – and the tools stay in sync. This means less time spent translating pixels to code, less "design debt" and less time spent fixing UX bugs.
Clear, human-readable and accessible support
Vitality's documentation provides both technical and experience-focused usage guidelines written in a supportive way to encourage best practices and upholding the best possible experience standards..
Speed up Delivery time
We provide reasonable, sensible defaults to accelerate product development and create efficiencies by removing guesswork for developers through consistent coding standards, naming conventions, component APIs and design standards.
Curated, lean and thought-out components and experiences
As a Design System based on Magentus' business and customer context, Vitality offers a lean, curated set of User Interface (UI) components, user flows and coding standards that contain only what is necessary; no extra bloat from third-party libraries or unnecessary opinions.
Accessibility
We ensure all components meet WAI-ARIA accessibility compliance and support native keyboard control.
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
We leverage pre-existing coded components and avoid reinventing the wheel. We configure them to work in harmony with Vitality's component API standards and experience principles.
Sensible constraints
We provide a well thought-out set of constraints for design and development that aim to guide consistent use of elements and a consistent experience.
